Wetruck (operated by WETRUCK TECHENABLE SOLUTIONS PLC) ("we", "us", or "our") built the Wetruck Transporter and Wetruck Shipper mobile applications (the "Apps"). These Apps provide a free digital marketplace platform that connects shippers (cargo owners) with transporters (truck operators) for efficient freight and heavy truck logistics across East Africa, primarily Ethiopia.

The platform is free to download and use. Transporters pay a commission to Wetruck only when they successfully secure and complete an order from a shipper.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Apps. By using the Apps, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

  • Account & Personal Information: full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, profile photo, password (encrypted), company/business name, business registration details.
  • Transporter-Specific Data: vehicle type, make, model, license plate, loading capacity, driver's license/ID documents, insurance information.
  • Shipper-Specific Data: cargo owner or business details.
  • Location Data: precise GPS location (to match nearby transporters, show available loads, enable real-time shipment tracking, and optimize routes). You can disable location sharing in your device or app settings.
  • Photos, Media & Files: uploaded documents (ID, vehicle photos, cargo photos, proof of delivery).
  • User Content: load postings (pickup/delivery addresses, cargo description, weight, special requirements), bids, in-app messages/chats.
  • Payment Information: when a transporter pays commission, billing and payment details are processed by third-party secure gateways (we do not store full card or bank account numbers).
  • Device & Usage Data: device model, OS version, IP address, app version, crash reports, usage analytics.

We also use the following third-party services that may collect information:

  • Telebirr (secure payment processing)
  • Email notification services

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Register and verify your account
  • Match shippers with suitable nearby transporters
  • Process orders, bids, and commission payments
  • Provide real-time shipment tracking
  • Enable in-app communication between shippers and transporters
  • Send email notifications and improve service quality
  • Detect fraud, ensure safety, and comply with legal obligations
  • Analyze usage to enhance the platform

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share information with:

  • Other users on the platform (only necessary details after a match, e.g., contact info or load details shared securely via the app)
  • Third-party service providers (under strict contracts) for hosting, payments, email notifications, and analytics
  • Authorities or regulators when required by law (including Ethiopian authorities)
  • Successors in the event of merger, acquisition, or sale of the company

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures (encryption, access controls, secure servers) to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the service, fulfill legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time (subject to legal requirements).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal data. You may also object to or restrict certain processing.

7. Children's Privacy

The Apps are not intended for children under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The new effective date will be posted at the top. Continued use of the Apps after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
